Thalodal, the Ayurvedic sports massage, comes from India, but has its roots not in the Ayurvedic scriptures, but in Tamil Nadu.

This treatment comes from the Indian martial art, the Kalaripayat.

Masters of this martial art discovered early on that certain massages strengthen vital points on and in the body. Knowing these points was very important for warriors and surgeons. The aim of the massage is to harmonize the body and mind, to activate the metabolism, to shorten the regeneration time (after physical activity, in the case of overtraining syndrome, in preparation for a sports competition, for convalescence), to increase performance, strengthen the tissue and promote education of healthy tissue, improves the radiance and the inner balance.

Thalodal is massaged slowly but with high pressure and takes about 30 minutes, traditional Ayurvedic oils are used.
